My son's 78 Cherokee Chief.

Recommended Posts

For some of you, this may look familiar. My oldest son fell in love with it. It's a 78 with an earlier grill and bumper set up on it.

We have a 60 front for it, SOA.

Building a shackle slip kit for it, 14B rear.

Chevy LH6, 4L70E and D300.

We'll replace both quarters and rockers plus the floors and fenders.

David Tracy from the jalopnik blog is building up one of those.

I think what he is doing is keeping it on life support.

I'm sure you can handle it, but in case you didn't know you can buy the ready made shackle flip kits http://www.bjsoffroad.com/Rear-Shackle-Flip-Kit-1976-1991-Wagoneer-Cherokee-Grand-Wagoneer_p_1364.html

Let me know if you decide to sell the wheels.

Badass project...have fun.

Yeah, we bought one... it came unpainted and without the bump stop... months later they're still dicking us around.

The boys did get the front axle on and we put it on semi level ground to see what it looks like.

Dave has the rear axle to sand blast and rebuild it, but it's a late model 14B that will get a shave job to match the front axle. We expect the front to come down a bit, when we install the Lh6, 4L70E and D300. Once it runs and drives, it's off to my body shop for rockers, quarters and floor repair. Will get the same color paint and a factory bumper tweak. It's his High School graduation present that everyone's working on.
