Electrical tools needed for pairing harness

Recommended Posts

So, since I can't do any heavy lifting for a bit, I may as well start cutting down the mountaineer harness for the 5.0. What are some of the tools I will need to remove wires from the connectors and reinstall them?  Needle nose pliers and some dental picks? What are the recommended connectors?  Any other tips/tools that would of help?

I have never done harness work before and i figured this one might be a good one to start on (and I am bored out of my freakin mind so please entertain me).

Thanks,

Ken

I've only stripped 1 harness, but, I felt the whole thing was dirty and sticky from the old electrical tape.  You need a plan for cleaning the wires.  I used alcohol and a rag.

nice assortment of waterproof/heatshrink butt connectors and a heat gun.

patience.

I did my renix harness differently. My tools:

Dikes, wire strippers, soldering iron, solder, flux, heat shrink and wire holder clips. Don't forget a good wiring diagram
