Homebrewed YJ Swaybar disconnects

submitted by doug jenne

Directions for fabrication and installation

Parts list:

  • 2 hitch pin? (forget the name of it, it's got multiple holes in it for a cotterpin)
  • 4ish washers
  • two copper sleeves to fit just over the pins
  • and two cotterpins

Installation:

  1. remove the stock bolt
  2. press copper sleeve into bushing
  3. line up pin through both the sway bar and end-link
  4. insert cotterpin so that the two members are snug together done. I have not lost a cotterpin yet after 15k miles.

When Wheeling:

  1. take cotterpin out
  2. insert back into end-link to prevent copper sleeve from falling out.
  3. rotate end-link against axle
  4. wheel
